Please sign the petition so that South Dakota will obey the 1978 India Child Welfare Act which was written in response to a national crisis in which an alarmingly high percentage of Indian children were being removed from their families and tribal communities. The crisis is ongoing, and South Dakota must stop relying on illegally gained child foster care funds. At present, in violation of this federal law, about 90% of Lakota foster children are placed in non-native homes or facilities with tragic results.
