Please watch, share and consider signing this e-petition……we have x Oakmont Veterinary Centre can with 100% confidence say that we scan EVERY Stray animal that comes into our Surgery. We do this as we firmly believe in reuniting all lost animals with their owners as soon as possible. If a microchip is located then the registered keeper details are obtained via the national database and they are contacted by a member of our team. Sadly if there is no way of identifying the animal the internet is searched, the authorities are contacted, pictures are taken and posted on our FB page. Details of where and by whom the animal was found are documented and kept. Regardless of whether that animal is alive and well or sadly injured/dead we know and realise the importance of informing the owner. In April 2016 the law is changing and making it compulsory that all dogs must be Microchipped, we as a profession see that the Microchipping laws need to change. ALL the authorities dealing with Stray animals should scan for a Microchip, otherwise incidents like Harvey’s will continue to happen.
