Please when you see me, do not mention this. Please as I am not strong enough to pretend it is ok. Client arrives this morning with her dog Jan) and Spot, true to form greets her on the arm of the bench with a lick and a pat of the paw. I leave to let her dog out and return, spot in his usual pace on the desk waiting for a new arrival to run over to the bench. 12 years of this. Some had the honor of being groomed by him. I go into the kitchen and come out to go get dog bowls from the back dogs and he is laying on the rug. He never lays like that. I knew. He was on his last breath and still warm but not cognizant, gums are blue, no breath on a mirror. I cradle and talk to him and then he was gone. His heart lived 11 years longer than he was told. He was an incredible gift and broke in hundreds of puppies and dogs. Cat haters loved Spot. There was no new place he would not lie on. If there were one word to describe him it would be interactive. He rolled belly up when I trimmed his nails. He let me shave his mats. A cat like no other. None of us, clients included, will have the same morning started and evening ended like Spot did for all of us. No more Maine Coon paw in my face every night as I slept. Thank you Lord for my fabulous cat. Thank you on behalf of the children he visited as pet safely advocate. Thank you for all the many dogs and puppies who learned to love their own cats thanks to my special one. His beauty outside was barely insight into the beauty inside.
