Plenty of festival action this weekend SURFING, skating, motorcycling, mountain-biking, an urban rumble, parkrun and trail run are on the cards for the Jeffreys Bay Winter Festival this weekend. On Friday, July 12, thrill-seekers can catch top skateboarders in action at Sable Street, Jeffreys Bay. The Core Downhill Sokkie Jol takes place from 9am, followed by an evening session at 5:15pm. The waiting period for the first Jeffreys Bay Open of Surfing, which started on Tuesday, draws to an end on Saturday, July 13. Four events are lined up for the Saturday. The Jeffreys Bay MTB Open starts at 8am at the Fountain Mall. Also at the Mall, starting at 10am, will be the first J’Bay Urban Rumble obstacle race. Motorcycle lovers are invited to head out to Ranger’s where the J-Bay Funduro will start at 9am. The Funduro promises to be great fun for both participants and spectators. Two special stages - the “quarry” and “slake pit” – have been added to the loop ride. The entrance to Rangers is just after the Mall en route to Mentorskraal – pass through the gate towards the Wavecrest waterworks and follow the markers. Further afield, at the St Francis Links, Bruce Fordyce will be in attendance to launch the St Francis Parkrun. On Sunday, July 14, the 12km Flamingo Trail Run will take place from Supertubes. Registration takes place from noon to 1:45pm. The run starts at 2pm.
