Pluralism Joh_14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. In our pluralistic society it has become very unpopular to mention that a person can only gain access into heaven by having a relationship with Christ. One prominent Christian leader, a world renowned pastor of a mega-church has openly stated that he won’t display a cross in his church building because it might offend “seekers”. Two others have stated on secular TV shows, shows which are viewed worldwide, that they weren’t sure if Christ was the only way. (By the way both these gentlemen are mega-church pastors and have their services televised regularly on Christian networks.) If Jesus was serious, and there is no reason to think He was not, these so-called pastors are building their ministries by condemning souls to hell. Paul actually sounded the warning that this type of thing would happen when he wrote … 2Ti 4:3-4 For the time is coming when [people] will not tolerate (endure) sound and wholesome instruction, but, having ears itching [for something pleasing and gratifying], they will gather to themselves one teacher after another to a considerable number, chosen to satisfy their own liking and to foster the errors they hold, and will turn aside from hearing the truth and wander off into myths and man-made fictions. Isn’t it strange that when people come to church seeking to have their lives changed, that they would be purposely misled? That when they need a touch from the Almighty they are directed into a gospel of self-help? Gal 1:6-8 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Paul was specifically addressing the Gospel the Jews were preaching which was intended to put Christians back under the law, but he goes on to qualify his statement by saying “any other gospel” in verse 8. So now we’re faced with the truth that these men aren’t walking in the blessings of God as it appears outwardly, but are actually placing themselves under greater condemnation than that which will their followers will suffer. (2Pe_2:1) My purpose is not to condemn, but to warn that there is real danger involved in trying to be “politically correct” or in replacing the gospel of Christ with philosophy or psychology; both for the leader and those that follow them. Prayer: Lord, help us to remain true and steadfast when we share the Gospel of Christ to this lost and dying world. Convict us as we tend to be men pleasers and remind us always that your Word is the standard our words are measured by. Your Word is Truth! Amen.
