Pocket Devotions Day 1473: Introduction to 2 Corinthians 7 2 Corinthians 7 Introduction Thoughts for Today: As background for this chapter we need to remember there was a man in Corinth who had been guilty of great immorality (he was having an incestuous relationship with his stepmother). In Pauls first letter, he reprimanded the Corinthian Church for not dealing with the situation. At the writing of this his second letter, we find the church had dealt with the man, who confessed and repented his sin. So the Corinthians had managed the circumstances accurately and appropriately per Pauls instructions. Titus had come to Paul and asked him now to intercede on the mans behalf. Apparently the man was a complete emotional wreck, feeling unworthy of further recognition by the church. The question of the day: What should be done about the man? Let him continue to be separated physically and relationally from the church, or allow him to once again return to fellowship? Questions to Ponder: I cant tell you how many times I have been forced to deal with a similar situation. Someone has wronged me -- a family member or close friend -- then apologizes, repents and wants to return to the old relationship. Is it right? Should we take the risk? Is it truly what God commands, or does He have a different approach? Read on, Paul provides these answers and much more.
