Poetry By Me Life I stand upon the shoreline Gazing out to sea The sun is warm upon my brow The wind caresses my neck I listen to the sounds around me Gulls wheel and cry above me The water swirls at my feet I hear the ghost like laughter of children in the distance I feel my life flow around me The shades of my Mother and father walk by me a tiny figure held between them A spray of sand hits me as a young version of myself crashes into the sand before me laughing I hear the warmth of my mothers laugh and feel her smile A chill wind blows and an a familiar ache throbs in my chest I see myself standing on the cliffs tears in my eyes Figures standing by me their hands upon my shoulders The beach is empty now the surf and wind caressing my ears with their soft sounds I see my self yet again alone but standing tall the shadows of pain have dimmed My eyes are full of confidence and my steps are sure The shade of my mother walks beside me My father watches from the cliff tops This is my past This has become my present This is my life Full of all things both good and bad Full of love and grief Now its time for me to leave this beach To stride with sure steps into my future I feel my mothers gaze upon me And I see the pride in my fathers eyes I hold my head high And brush the sand from my eyes The future is now And I see only hope and laughter As I walk into that bright sunshine For this is My life
