Police Alert: Victoria Point residents are asked remain alert and to report any suspicious activity in and around their streets following an attempted break and enter at Wilson Lane and a break and enter offence in the next street, White Street in the early hours of Monday, August 18 between about 1:00am and 2:30am. The Wilson Lane resident heard a noise during the night, initially believing it may have been a possum. On going to investigate the resident allegedly saw a tall male person wearing dark track pants and a black hooded jacket who had scaled the rear patio before attempting to open the rear glass sliding door. The intruder ran away upon realising he had been seen. Police attended and attempted to track the offender but no suspect has been found as yet. The White Street house was entered through an insecure door and property including an iPod and iPad were stolen from the bedroom next to the sleeping victim. The resident found the door had been held open with a rolled up newspaper to keep it partly open. Police recommend that residents in the Victoria Point area: Review their security arrangements; Lock doors and windows; Install CCTV or an alarm; Place valuable items away out of sight; Report suspicious vehicles or people to police immediately; In an emergency dial Triple Zero (000); When a crime has occurred Think Policelink and call 131 444 Anyone with information which could assist with this matter should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.au 24hrs a day.
