Police Service Interfaith Service On Sunday the pews of the Church of the Assumption in Maraval were filled with members of the protective service as they recommitted their duties to the service through faith. This marked the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service’s 28th annual Interfaith Service. Catholic Priest Father Garfield Rochard in his sermon themed – Hope for the Future, told the officers that the country is living in violent times, and despite the outcomes they need to be hopeful. As of Sunday, there were 305 murders and 39 shootings in which police officers were involved. Father Rochard urged members of the protective service to assess and evaluate their tactics when placed in the line of fire. Speaking to reporters after the service Acting Commissioner of Police Stephen Williams said in order to address crime it would not just take efforts of police officers alone but assistance from the general public. The interfaith service was then followed by a parade to the Police Academy in St. James.
