Police Want Drivers to Stop Reaching for Their Cell Phones On June 4th and 5th, plainclothes traffic officers riding in covert Crime Watch cars stopped and ticketed 47 drivers for using an electronic devise to call or text while driving. The ticket comes with a $167.00 fine. You never know who may be driving beside you when you reach for your cell phone, says Inspector Les Yeo with the VPD Traffic Section. No call or text is worth risking your safety or the safety of others. The VPD handed out tickets to 9,722 drivers last year for using an electronic devise.
