Police appeal for witnesses after man shot in leg - Smithfield Friday, 26 July 2013 05:26:25 AM Police are investigating the shooting of a man outside a kebab shop at Smithfield in Sydney’s south-west last night. About 9:55pm, Thursday 25 July 2013, a 41-year-old man was outside the shop on the Cumberland Highway and The Horsley Drive when he was assaulted by three men. During the incident the man was shot in the leg. He later attended Auburn Hospital for treatment of a single gunshot wound to his leg and remains in a stable condition. A crime scene was established outside the shop and examined by specialist forensic police. Detectives from Fairfield Local Area Command and the State Crime Command’s Operation Apollo are continuing their investigations and are attempting to establish a motive for the shooting. They are looking for three men who have only been described as wearing hooded jumpers.
