Police are again appealing for anyone who might have seen a man missing in the Blue Mountains since last week, as the search for him continues. Gary Tweddle, 23, was last seen leaving the Fairmont Resort at Leura in the early hours of Tuesday 16 July. The Cremorne man had been staying at the resort for a work conference. Mr Tweddle has not been heard from or seen since and police have serious concerns for his welfare. Police from Blue Mountains Local Area Command have coordinated a major search for him, which has centred on dense bushland where he was last seen. Assistant Commissioner Denis Clifford said police will continue to search for Mr Tweddle as a missing person. “The search and investigation concerning Mr Tweddle’s disappearance last week will continue in the coming days. “It has involved the dedicated efforts of NSW Police officers, the Rural Fire Service, State Emergency Service and the Volunteer Rescue Association, during this lengthy and often difficult task. “I would also like to personally thank the hundreds of volunteers who have devoted many hours to the search,” Assistant Commissioner Clifford said. Mr Tweddle is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 165-170cm tall, medium build, brown eyes with short brown hair. At the time of his disappearance he was wearing blue jeans, a black jacket and checked shirt. National Missing Persons Week commences this Sunday (28 July 2013), each year approximately 35,000 people are reported missing in Australia, this is equivalent to one person every 15 minutes.
