Police are hunting for two men who set fire to a car in a targeted arson attack. At around 8.30pm on Monday 13th October 2014, the 32-year-old victim parked her recently purchased Audi A3 at an address on Littleton Road, Lower Kersal, and left to go to work. Soon after, two men approached the car on foot and threw a brick through the driver⿿s side window. One of the men then threw a plastic bottle filled with petrol in through the broken window, setting fire to the front seat of the car before they both ran off down a nearby ginnel. The two offenders are both described as white, in their late teens and were wearing dark clothing. Detective Sergeant Wendy Grace said: “We are a treating this as a targeted attack against this woman, who is devastated that the car she has only just purchased has been destroyed in this fashion. It has caused several thousand pounds worth of damage and subjected the victim to significant distress. “This goes way beyond normal criminal damage, it was a dangerous attack that could have had much more serious implications had the fire crews not acted swiftly to put out the blaze. “We would like anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have seen two men matching the above description, to come forward and assist us with our enquiries.” Anyone with information should call Police on 101 or independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
