Police are investigating after a teenage boy was locked in a public toilet by a man who attempted to indecently assault him at Kiama. About 12.30pm today (Sunday 30 June 2013), a 16-year-old boy entered a public toilet at Hindmarsh Park, located near a rock pool off Pheasant Point Drive. As the teen entered the toilet, he noticed a man sitting on a bench inside the toilet facility, who immediately stood up and locked the door. Police have been told the man approached the boy and tried to touch him inappropriately, however the youth pushed him out of the way and ran out of the toilet block. The matter was reported to Lake Illawarra Police who launched an investigation into the incident. They want to speak to a man they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries. He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 60 years of age, approximately 183cm tall, with a thin build, and was wearing a light green polo shirt and jeans at the time.
