Police are seeking assistance from the public to help identify a man who died after being hit by a car near Cooolongonglook. The incident occurred on the Pacific Highway two kilometres south of the town about 7pm yesterday (Thursday 24 October 2014). Witnesses told police the man had been walking along the highway shortly before being struck by a southbound four-wheel-drive. He died at the scene. The man was not carrying identification, and police from Manning/Great Lakes Local Area Command are now appealing for information to help identify him. He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged 25 to 30 years, approximately 175cm tall, with a medium build and black hair. The man was wearing blue jeans, work boots and a black sweater. The driver of the four-wheel-drive, a 53-year-old Pillar Valley man, was taken to Manning Rural Referral Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing. Police will prepare a brief for the information of the Coroner.
