There is now absolutely no question that Better Together had access to the results of the postal ballots well in advance of the 18th of September. This clip is from Sunday the 14th of September when McTernan was talking about the results of the postal ballots from the week before. Whether they rigged the ballot boxes and postal votes or not, that kind of intelligence would have allowed them to decide who to target and how, allow the bookies to keep the odds long and the pollsters to peg the polls back a bit in favour of No. All of which is hugely important in terms of the psychology of the electorate. Im not suggesting that we have a recount, or an immediate revote or even an investigation. Lets wait and see what happens with these promised additional powers and lets be crystal clear on the fact that the UK politicians, media and establishment can not be trusted to deliver democracy. Some thought needs to be given as to how the voting process can be safeguarded. Incidentally, name one thing that the Electoral Commission actually did during the referendum.... Absolutely nothing, if we are being kind. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
