Police fire after NC, PDP workers clash Police in north Kashmir’s Chandoosa had to open fire after a clash broke out between the workers of National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday. The clash broke at Galibal village soon after Omar Abdullah addressed a poll rally. Witnesses said the NC workers tore down PDP posters and banners in the area which angered the workers of PDP and they resorted to stone-pelting. “The PDP workers stoned NC workers as well vehicles part of NC rally. As a result of stone- pelting, window panes and glasses of several vehicles got smashed,” the witnesses said. The contesting candidate of NC for Baramulla Assembly segment, Ghulam Hassan Rahi’s vehicle was also damaged allegedly by PDP workers during the clash. To control the situation, the police opened fire in air to disperse the rioters. “The situation in the area was brought under control later,” an official said.
