Police have charged a man after he allegedly assaulted a taxi driver in early July 2014. Just after 5.30pm (Sunday 6 July 2014), emergency services were called to Doig Street, Constitution Hill, after reports of a taxi driver being assaulted. Officers from Parramatta Local Area Command attended and were told the man, aged 48, was allegedly assaulted by a passenger who had asked to be driven to that location. The passenger allegedly fled the scene after the assault with a woman. A crime scene was established and an investigation was commenced. The injured driver was taken to Westmead Hospital with injuries to his face and head. He has since been released from hospital. Last night at 8pm (Wednesday 16 July 2014), a 19-year-old man was arrested at Parramatta Police Station. He was charged with wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The man was bail refused to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Thursday 17 July 2014).
