Police have charged a man after stabbing a teenage boy in Kempsey last night (Saturday 8 February 2014). About 9.30pm, a man and teen, aged 15 and 18, had an argument on Robert Eggins Street. The man allegedly left, returning shortly after with a knife and a fight ensued. It is alleged that man punched the teen in the face and stabbed him in his arm, leg, face and chest. Police were contacted and officers from Mid North Coast Local Area Command and forensic specialists attended, commencing an investigation. The 15-year-old was taken to Port Macquarie Hospital for treatment he is in serious but stable condition. Investigators attended an address in Robert Eggins Street, arrested the man and he was taken to Kempsey Police Station. He was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and refused bail to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court today (Sunday 9 February 2014).
