Police have charged two women after numerous items of property were stolen from an educational residential facility at Camperdown over the weekend. About 6pm on Saturday 20 September 2014, numerous stealing offences were reported to police at Newtown. Following further investigations it was determined that five computers had been stolen from the premises, located on Carillion Avenue, from unattended rooms. Police from Newtown Local Area Command reviewed CCTV and commenced inquiries to locate a motor vehicle and two women who were allegedly portrayed in the footage. It will be alleged the two women were able to trick a resident into allowing them to enter the premises and later steal the computers from different rooms. Following further inquiries police located the vehicle of interest and sough a search warrant. About 9am yesterday (Wednesday 24 September 2014) investigators executed a search warrant at a home in Florida Street at Sylvania. Police located two women at the home who were arrested. They also seized several items of clothing but did not locate the computers. The women were taken to Miranda Police Station and later charged with numerous offences including steal from dwelling x 6, aggravated break and enter, aggravated enter dwelling with intent and enter enclosed lands. The 29-year-old Sylvania woman and 35-year-old Kingsgrove woman were refused bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court today (Thursday 25 September 2014).
