Police investigating a serious road traffic collision near Thirsk are appealing for witnesses to come forward. It occurred at around 2.35pm yesterday on the A167 near Allanbrooke Barracks. The collision involved a grey Peugeot 307 travelling from Busby Stoop towards Topcliffe, when it left the road before colliding with a tree. As a result of the collision the front seat passenger, a 25-year-old man from Thirsk, was taken by air ambulance to James Cook Hospital, Middlesbrough, with serious injuries where he remains in a serious but stable condition. The 27-year-old man driving the car, also from Thirsk, suffered a leg injury and was taken to the FriarageHospital in Northallerton, where he currently remains. Traffic Constable Neil Cholmondeley, of the Force’s Roads Policing Group, said: “If you witnessed the collision or saw the Peugeot just prior to the incident, I ask that you contact the police straight away.” Anyone who can help officers progress this investigation is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Neil Cholmondeley.
