Police investigating the rape of a 40-year-old woman as she walked her dog in Salford have tonight, Monday, 6 October 2014, made an arrest. A 29-year-old man from Salford has been arrested on suspicion of rape and is being interviewed by officers. At around 6am on Sunday 5 October 2014, the woman was walking near to New Bank Towers in Blackfriars area when she was approached by a man who started to talk to her. As they reached Mount Street, towards the back of The Friars Primary School, he dragged her into nearby bushes and raped her. Detective Sergeant Julie Connor said We have worked around the clock to investigate this very serious attack. “Tonight’s arrest is part of the ongoing investigation and I continue to urge anyone with any information to contact the police on 0161 856 5360 and quoting log 636 of 05/10/14 or by ringing the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 55511
