Police welfare schemes reviewed: Rs. 2.5 crores distributed among jawans in six months: Prasad Srinagar, July 15: The Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. Ashok Prasad today said that Jammu and Kashmir Police has launched various schemes for the welfare of its jawans, their families and retired personnel. He said that during first six months of current year Rs. 2.5 crores have been paid to benefit 1108 serving, retired policemen and the families of deceased personnel out of Contributory Police Welfare Fund. The DGP was reviewing the welfare measures at a meeting held at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today. The meeting was convened to review different welfare schemes for the serving jawans, their families and retired personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police and their implementation. He asked to enhance various welfare avenues for the families of police personnel and stressed for quick disbursement of welfare relief to the families of the police personnel, who laid down their lives while performing professional duties. He said several schemes have been launched in this regard, adding that Special Contributory Police Welfare Fund is under implementation to provide succor to the families of personnel, who die in-service irrespective of their cause of death................
