Politicians and govt officials often forget something when addressing groups of police officers: Theyre speaking to people who are formally trained to detect deception, recognize feigned emotions, and spot disingenuous claims of solidarity. There are many different types of intellectual ability but no one is more adept at sniffing out deception than a group of veteran cops with years of practical experience in being lied to. Heres some free advice for politicians: You may possess a stellar education and be capable of sophisticated statesmanship but you will never successfully sell lies & false promises to a collection of experienced street cops and Detectives. One last thing (and this is important): When the cops look at you with perfectly neutral facial expressions and say nothing, it doesnt mean they bought it. They know what you are.
