Politicians in Northern Ireland have been criticised for wasting millions of pounds on a failed bid to set up an Education and Skills Authority (ESA). The Ulster Teachers Union called it a sell-out to political difference. Meanwhile children from poorer families are still not meeting GCSE targets. The latest figures show only 34% achieved 5 good GCSEs. Are there any easy answers to improving how children are educated here?
