They have always courted each other and benefited from a strange but a symbiotic relationship. Even in modern secular Britain religion has played an important role in politics. The Christian think-tank, Theos, has released a report today that shows Labour should target the Muslim vote in next year’s general election, while David Cameron is likely to do well among Jews. The Lib Dems did well with Buddhists in 2010. Are these the natural political territories for religions and the religious homes for mainstream British Political parties? Could religion and politics together play a more moderating role in this uncertain and chaotic world? Could religion and politics together be the moral force to make a decisive stance against the social ills?
