Politics is still premature in Srilanka. Specially after 3 decades of civil war.Total democracy and discipline cannot be exercised after 5 or 10 years. People still need to make a sacrifice like the way the Japanese did after Hiroshima to develop the country without being emotional. The new society should be neutralized for a while so that people can live in unity especially because there are many nationalities sharing the island. If we take the history of any country into consideration, their folk songs,sonnets,folk tales,ballads, short stories,dramas and novels:- the authors have cleverly master mined the themes taken from the society maintaining their artistic quality and the irony of revealing or conveying their message in a very subtle way that they can be critically analyzed and appreciated by all individuals irrespective of their cast,class,race or gender so that the public is able to think constructively and use the themes conveyed or implied in a positive manner to avoid destruction. But unfortunately today, some of the composers,directors,writers and artists seem to complicate the society by direct emphasis which might have a negative impact on the people . Maybe its because they too need time to mature like everything else. The European countries themselves have taken centuries to have become the countries they are today after many continuous struggles. In novels such as Routes, Nelson Mandelas Walk to Freedom,J. Nehrus The book of Nature or How early history was written, Shakespearean Tragedies,and dramas Blowing in the wind by Bob Dylan,John Lennons modern ballads, Micheal Jacksons Heal the World etc the entire background of a country and the whole world is portrayed remarkably aesthetically that are of priceless value even to this day. It is pathetic to hear and see some of our artists, composers, writers directors in Srilanka who are still unaware and uncertain about the dramatic changes they can bring about in the country through performance, in a way that can be most appealing to the hearts of people without voicing on stage like politicians. Their responsibility is to entertain the public in the most pro founding way.
