Polling for final phase culminated peacefully Jammu, Dec 20, : Polling for the 5th and final phase of J&K Assembly Elections culminated peacefully in the 20 constituencies on Saturday including 63- Bani, 64-Basohli, 65-Kathua, 66-Billawar, 67-Hiranagar (SC), 70- Nagrota, 71-Gandinagar, 72-Jammu East, 73-Jammu West, 74-Bishnah, 75-R S Pura (SC), 76-Suchetgarh, 77-Marh, 78-Raipur Domana(SC), 79, Akhnoor, 80-Chhamb(SC),81-Nowshara, 82- Darhal, 83-Rajouri and 84- Kalakote spread across three districts of Jammu, Kathua and Rajouri. Election authorities had established 2366 polling stations across three districts to facilitate 18,28,904 voters, including 9,59,011 males and 8,69,891 females, besides two transgender voters. Despite cold weather, people were seen marching towards the polling booths and long queues of electorate were seen outside the polling booths to exercise their franchise. In Bishnah constituency at polling station 27, out of the total 640 votes, 72 votes were cast in the first hour of polling. At polling Station 28, out of 706 votes, 81 were cast till 9 AM. Reports said that 12.09 per cent votes were polled up to 10 am. 61-Bani witnessed the maximum turnout of 41 per cent during the first four hours of polling. Till 12 noon, 29.75 per cent voting was recorded in all the three districts of Kathua, Rajouri and Jammu. A total of 213 candidates were in the fray for these constituencies while among others, whose fate was sealed in the Electronic Voting Machines included Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand and cabinet ministers Raman Bhalla, Sham Lal Sharma and Ajay Sadhotra. The Election results will be declared on December 23. (
