Pompeii! It was about 2.5 hours from Rome and thank goodness a beautiful day!! I expected to see many objects frozen in time from the ash but the city has been excavated to expose the many many parts that remain....even some walls with murals, courtyard gardens-shallow bathing room-prayer niche-all if you had money of course!
