Poona Pact Divas Celebrations by Samata Sainik Dal. (8 photos) Poona Pact Divas was celebrated by All India Samata Sainik Dal (Regd.) Punjab Unit at Ambedkar Bhawan, Jalandhar on 24th September, 2014. Throwing light on Poona Pact, the chief guest and renowned ambedkarite Mr. L.R. Balley told that the agreement reached between Baba Saheb Dr. Ambedkar and Mohandas Gandhi at Yarvada Jail on 24th September, 1932 was subsequently known as Poona Pact. Dr. Ambedkar on behalf of the untouchables and in addition to Pandit Madan Mohan Malavya on behalf of the Hindus, total 65 leaders signed the agreement. However, the untouchables got less facilities than in communal award but with this pact the untouchables got the chance to send their representatives in central and state assemblies. They got reserved seats in government jobs and also educational facilities. The so called untouchables, slaves and dalits could say their grievances at par with others. This was such a revolution which could occur with the ability of Dr Ambedkar alone, his efforts, interest, abdication, and emulation. It is a rare example of such revolution in the history of the world. The special guest and representative of Ambedkarite International Coordination Society, Canada, Mrs. Punam Balley was honoured with a Shawl and Momento. In the function, among others, Mr. Sohan Lal - DPI Colleges (Retd)., Charan Dass Sandhu – Gen. Secretary, Ambedkar Mission Society Punjab (Regd); Varinder Kumar; Rahul Balley; Dr. Surinder Kumar; Dr. Mohinder Sandhu; Baldev Raj Bhardwaj; Bishan Dass Sahota; Surjit Happy were present. The State President of the Dal Mr. Jaswinder Wariana passed thye vote of thanks and the Gen. Sec. Mr. Sunny Thapar performed the stage duty in a nice way.
