Poor BSNL broadband and mobile services irk subscribers Srinagar: Poor cellular connectivity and irritant broadband service has become continuous source of nuisance to BSNL subscribers in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir Valley. Hundreds of BSNL subscribers from various localities across Kashmir are continuously complaining of ‘poor BSNL broadband and mobile services.” BSNL broad band subscribers from different parts of Srinagar city said from past week they are unable to access YouTube and other videos through BSNL network. “No official from BSNL will take you seriously once you approach them to redress your problem. They will make you roam from one chamber to another and once they fail to convince you, they direct you to consult a particular official to avoid you,” a broadband subscriber Muhammad Saleem said. A BSNL subscriber from Hyderpora said that what troubles you more is that there “is no one to pay heed to our grievances.” The angry subscribers said the service of BSNL has been going from bad to worse with every passing day. Reports said that at tourist resort Yousmarag poor connectivity, call drops, weak signal and other irritants have become perennial problems with BSNL service. Same is the case with the other areas including Srinagar city. “As I take a stroll outside the hotel in Yousmarag, my BSNL mobile connection gets off for want of signal and it irritates me,” said a foreign tourist adding that the company is making the people to pay for the defective service. Similar views were expressed by the residents of Brein Nishat where BSNL network is out of order from past fortnight. Subscribers rued that they are suffering because there is lack of accountability in the department. “BSNL employees are trained in collecting bills only. This company extracts money from you for poor service. The apathy is that BSNL employees don’t take care of subscribers unlike the private cellular companies because they think they are permanent employees and nobody on earth can kick them out,” an angry subscriber whose wireless connection is out of order in Mehjoor Nagar area told CNS. “Both Chief General Manager and General Manager were out of town so to register the complaint I went to another official who gave me a phone number and asked me to contact him,” Nazir Ahmed said adding that it was a wastage of time to visit BSNL office. When contacted, a BSNL official on condition of anonymity admitted that there are some problems with the network. (CNS)
