Pope FRANCIS announced through a spokesman Thursday that he plans to build showers for the homeless under the white colonnade of St. Peter’s Square. Three showers will be built into refurbished public restrooms intended for Catholic pilgrims along the marble columns that lead into the basilica. The effort is a joint initiative of the pope and Archbishop KONRAD KRAJEWSKI, and construction is due to begin next week. Ive said it before, and Ill say it again: I like this pope.
