Pope Francis has invited all Catholics, other Christians, members of the world’s religions, and all persons of good will to join in prayer and fasting this Saturday, September 7 th , so that further bloodshed in Syria may be averted, and peace may come to this troubled region of our world. Please join us in this simple prayer: May all beings everywhere, plagued with sufferings of body and mind, quickly be freed from their suffering and the causes of suffering. May those frightened cease to be afraid, and may those oppressed find freedom. May people in every land think of befriending each other. May all beings be well, happy, and peaceful. May all beings have dignity, love, and respect. May all efforts to relieve suffering be successful. May all hatred and acts of aggression be overcome through great compassion. May the fires of war be quenched by love.
