Yes, tis the season...and one of my most favorite times of the year and without question, my all-time favorite holiday! Words seem to fail me to express to you all the joy I have this time of the year! And, let me be the first to wish you the very best of the season and many blessings from God upon your family and loved ones! Now before you either take offense at my seemingly miscued well-wishes...or worse than that, think me to be suffering from some strange, tropical delirium, or that maybe ive sailed into a nutty time warp, let me clue you on a quirky but reaaly nice island tradition here---Christmas begins in September...always. Dont believe it? Listen to a Philippine radio station for a bit on that computer of yours...youll hear all sorts of the jolly tunes! Yes, if you thought it disgusting that the Christmas decorations for sale are already up in Walmart, and Hobby Lobby...dont come here...youll likely swear at it! September is the first of the ber months...SeptemBER, OctoBER, NovemBER, DecemBER, JanuaryBER...see, once such a good thing gets going it takes a bit to get it stopped...like a steam locomotive...jus...cant get...it....to.....stop......once a good head of steam is built up! I have thought through the years about why we celebrate so early and for so long and maybe I know the reason, in part. See the weather here varies so little that we dont actually know when winter time is upon us. So to mark what we think might be winter time...when the first north wind blows...like it did yesterday, we begin our celebration of Christmas. Now, I cant swear this to be the reason, but it sounds about as good as any Ive heard. So, with that, since the north wind blew up a good squall again this afternoon...i wish each of you a very MERRY CHRISTMAS! Hahahaha! ...or is it Ho! Ho! Ho! God bless you all. I am praying for you! I will post again...
