Portland, Maine - Despite an early deficit, the Portland Pirates scored three straight goals as they secured a season opener and home night 3-2 victory against the Providence Bruins before a crowd of 5601 fans at the Cross Insurance Arena on Saturday night. Lucas Lessio and Brendan Shinnimin scored a goal a piece while Darian Dziurzynski scored an even strength goal for the Pirates. Dylan Reese had two assists. Mike McKenna stopped 25 of 27 shots in the win.
