Portrait#31)..of Christ GALILEAN...Pilate asked if the man was a Galilean..(Luke 23:6) Jesus was accused by the Jews of the most serious crime in the empire--rebellion..Pilare, before whom Jesus srood in judgment, fearful the Jews might accuse him to caesar of taking an insurgent under his protection..asked Jesus was a Galilean..Confirmig that He was..gave Pilate his opportunity to turn this knotty & dangerous problem over to Herod who was in charge of the Galilean province..Galilee was the region of north Palestine where Jesus spent His boyhood & early ministry..Galilee was not a rural backwater..but was traversed by some of the major routes of the empire..God cast it geographically at one of the most strategic crossroads of the world..When our Israeli guide in Palestine was asked.which continent Israel is in? He replied, that an Israeli can claim to be a dweller of three continents for Israel is a bridge connecting Africa, Asia, & Eurooe..The plain of Esdraelon, known as the Valley of Armageddon..was blood-soaked by the armies that have marched over it for thousands of years.. Through this fertile valley marched the Eyptians, Philistines, Assyrians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Crusaders, Turks, & British..The fortress of Megiddo that guards the pass of the Valley & is known as the Gibralter of Palestine, has felt the tremors of Alexander the Great..in his pursuit of world conquest..the legions of Vespasian, the cavalries of Napolean en route to his embarrassment at Acre..More recently, it witnessed the unresisted advance of the British..under Allenby in 1917 & the rumbling of Jewish tanks in June 6, 1967war..And, according to Bible prophecy, it isnt over yet.. The crown jewel of the province of Galilee Is Israels only freshwater lake, the Sea of Galilee, framed by the hills & pastoral scenes of the region..So much ministry of our Lord transpires around its pevbled shores & sparkling blue waters..The land of the Lord is closely intertwined with the Lord of the land..He strode its dusty roads, climbed its hills, spent many hours by & on its waters..knew the solitude of its mountains & the bustle of its marketplaces.. ♥O Man of Galilee..stay with & strengthen me; Walk Thou through life with me,..O Man of Galilee!
