Position: Economist Intern Company: Resource Vision, Inc. Location: Sault Ste Marie, ON Application due date: December 1, 2013 Start time: Based on availability Background: Resource Vision is a small economic consulting firm started in 2007. Resource Vision publishes information and economic analyses for the forest industry that supports critical business decisions. Our clients include producers, timberland owners, financial institutions, governments, and NGOs. Resource Vision is now expanding its economist capacity to accommodate its growing client base. Resource Vision is located in Sault Ste Marie. Core Responsibilities of Position: The Economist will help our Chief Economist compile, document, maintain, and manipulate our extensive time-series databases. The Economist will assist in the development of forecasting models on both a national and global level. This position is an excellent and unique opportunity for aspiring analysts to develop an appreciation for value creation through empirical research and develop a career as an economist. The Economist will work extensively with Excel and our proprietary analytical software. The intent is for the Intern Economist to advance to the Senior Economist level and become the lead economist for part of Resource Vision’s business. Desired Skills: The successful candidate will have the following attributes: • Major or minor in Economics (undergrad or graduate) • Strong quantitative and analytical skills • Excellent organizational skills • Solid computer skills, particularly in use of Excel • Ability to think creatively and work independently • Strong work ethic and highly motivated towards excellence • Attention to detail Compensation: The position is a full-time entry-level position. The starting compensation will be $14-$18/hr depending upon the proficiency of the successful applicant. There will also be an opportunity to participate in Resource Vision’s profit-share incentive program. Relocation costs covered, if applicable.
