Position: Monitoring Intern, Global Monitoring Services Location: Bangalore India Reports to: Lead, Global Datacenter Services. Number of positions : 3 Basic Function In this position you will be responsible for some of the most important tasks in IS&T Global Monitoring Services of EFI It involves escalation of support requests and alerts to the appropriate group or department. The day to day duties include going through backup reports, troubleshooting, fixing, rerunning failed backups, escalating to production down issue to datacenter administrators and working with admins in different sites. The ideal candidate would be a good team player, with good communication skills, a passion for documentation, who can follow processes and procedures. Primary Duties • The Monitoring analyst will be monitoring, troubleshooting servers, network devices and services on systems that are operational in EFI sites located in different parts of the world. • The candidate will be responsible for monitoring of servers and services using Orion and Nagios, initial troubleshooting of OS, Databases, applications and backup issues. • The candidate will be responsible for managing virtual machines under Vmware environment. • The candidate will be responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting Netbackup backups. • The candidate will follow process and procedures related to routine audits, routine processes and procedures which would be required to keep the environment healthy and running at all times. • Learn and follow all department standards and procedures. • Learn, monitor, and contribute to documentation and in the development of tools supporting the environment. • Work with offshore team to gather requirements, procedures to monitor/manage the servers and services. Experience and Educational Requirements • Degree or Engineering graduates. • Must have basic knowledge on desktop trouble shooting and network troubleshooting. • Experience in managing servers is a plus. • Experience with Windows 2000, 2003 is a plus. • Experience with Linux is a plus. • Experience with Cisco network device management is a plus. • Experience with Vmware ESX and Virtual center is a plus. • Experience with Database MSSQL, Oracle, Progress is a plus. • Experience with NetBackup or other enterprise class backup software is a plus. • Industry certifications (MCSE, RHCE, CCNA) are encouraged. • ASP, Perl, VB or other scripting/development knowledge is a plus. Working conditions • 24/7 the team will be working and people should be flexible to work in such an environment • Should be able to work in night shifts and on Saturday and Sunday • After-hours and overtime duties are occasionally required. • The candidate will be working in a 9 hour shift in a day and 5 days a week to support IS&T Global Monitoring Services of EFI in rotation. • Must be able to speak, read, and understand English and be able to communicate with Administrators in US and other sites. Key Working Relationships This position works closely with system administrators in all sites of EFI. The candidate reports to the Team Lead IS & T Global data center Services. Supervision Received This position is supervised by the Team Lead IS & T Global data center Services. Scope This position will work in a team of 6 or more, supporting IS&T Global Monitoring Services, Bangalore. This position resides in our Bangalore, India office. No travel is required.
