The Reporter/Journalist will be responsible for the following. 2. Updating the team with current affairs. 3. Attending press launches, meetings and various other events as advised and necessary. 4. Interviewing a person live or via phone. 5. Researching on material and facts before printing or broadcasting them as news report. 6. Taking notes in short hand or recording them on tape. 7. Writing reports from the research material and the facts provided. 8. Get accurate facts in real time. 9. Talking to different people from various backgrounds, occupations and lifestyles. 10. Developing and writing news reports to get it broadcast. 11. Writing the script and the content of the news report. 12. Overseeing the appearance and layout of articles thereby ensuring that the artwork and design of the photos accompanying the articles are appropriate. 13. Conducting surveys, interviews and meetings with various groups, individuals, institutions to gather data, analyze and draft articles. 14. Preparing reports from different sources as required. 15. Writing articles, reports, conducting interviews and research. 16. Any other duty that may assigned by the Direct Supervisor. Having skills: . 1 to 2 years of experience as a Reporter/journalist with a News Channel,magazine or newspaper and any other mean of media. . Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. . Computer literacy to enable tracking of manuscripts and record keeping. . Knowledge of major issues and trends occurring in the media. . knowledge of the Afghan legal systems, laws, and procedure. . Discretion and sound judgment in handling sensitive issues. . Ability to cooperate with others to achieve results and to establish and maintain effective working relations with the team. . Computer and research skills, including the internet (online) research. Education: . University degree in Journalism or Mass Communication. or Public Administration will be an asset. Language Skills: . Excellent command of written and spoken Pashto and Dari and working knowledge of written and spoken English will be an asset Other Competencies: . Knowledge of communications and media production, and computing, clerical and leadership skills. . Ability to establish and maintain good inter-personal relationships . Ability to work under pressure, demonstrate responsible behavior and discretion, take initiative, give attention to details, and be an independent problem solver. . Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and organize work flow to effectively meet deadlines, and follow up on pending issues. . Ability to work well independently and within a team. .
