Positive Energy from the next World Community Film Screening..... Now for some good news…come see The Future of Energy (79 min.), a perfect follow up to Richard Boyces film Coastal Tar Sands and Ian McAllisters presention on the Great Bear Rainforest. This is a positive film about the renewable energy revolution and the fact that we already have alternatives to fossil fuels that are technically and financially feasible. The screening will be held at the North Island College theatre (Courtenay) on Tuesday Dec. 2 at 7 pm. This is a powerful documentary that captures the movement across the US to transition to renewable energy. The film features creative visionaries such as Bill McKibben (350.org) and Joanna Macy as well as city mayors who have worked with local people to shift their cities to 100% renewable energy sources. Jeremy Rifkin provides the economic rationale for a transition from fossil fuels. Proceeds from the event will go to Pull Together, a collective of groups raising money to support First Nations in their legal challenges to the Enbridge Northern Gateway project. All donations raised before December 31 will be matched by a donor. See: pull-together.ca/ Admission is by donation. Everyone is welcome. For more information: 250 337-5412
