Post Christian Era A lot of people have said that we are now - TopicsExpress

Post Christian Era A lot of people have said that we are now living in a Post Christian era. A lot of the surveys taken have the numbers to reflect that assertion. Here are some figures from the Barna Group which is a group that studies the church world. Here are some of his (George Barna) findings. 1. The number of unchurched people in America would make the 8th most populous country in the world. Roughly 156 million people. 2. In the past decade, more people in the U.S. have become churchless than live in Australia or Canada. We can see a definite trend away from church. 3. The vast majority of Americas churchless have attended a church. This means that they were churched, but now are unchurched. People are leaving our churches. 4. The younger the person is, the less likely he or she is to attend church. This means that parents are now failing to pass the baton of their faith on to their children 5. The majority of the churchless in America claim Christianity as their faith. I find this one particularly troubling. More than half (51%) interview are actively seeking something better spiritually speaking than they have experienced to date. This tells me our churches are failing to give the people a face to face encounter with God. One third of them say they still have a relationship with God even though out of church. So, not all of the people who are churchless have abandoned God, just the church. The fact that we are seeing an Exodus from church should send up red flags to church leaders today who are consumed with enhancing attendance numbers, and begin to get back to giving the people a life transforming encounter. There is no doubt but that we need a REVIVAL. So, today I have decided to pray for all who are in church leadership. Our leaders need a fresh vision and perspective. We need to look up and refocus or faith on our Father, and then come away with some heavenly marching orders. May we the church repent, that we might be revived, in Jesus Name.
