Post-Doc Openings in Robotic Dynamic Manipulation PRISMA Lab – Dipartimento di Ingegneria Elettrica e Tecnologie dell’Informazione Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II The PRISMA Lab at the University of Naples Federico II is seeking to recruit junior/senior postdoctoral research fellows that will have a key research role in one or both of these two areas: A1) Robotic dynamic manipulation, especially focused on non-prehensile manipulation of rigid and non-rigid objects. A2) Vision/RGB-D camera, especially focused on modelling and tracking of deformable objects. The successful candidates will conduct their research at the PRISMA Lab on the new European Research Council Advanced Grant project on the theme of “RObotic DYnamic MAnipulation”. This is the only robotics proposal among the 302 selected in Physical Sciences and Engineering in the 2012 call out of the total of 2304 proposals. The ERC AdGs are the most prestigious grants awarded at the European level. The goal of RoDyMan project (rodyman.eu) is the derivation of a unified framework for non-prehensile manipulation, where the mobile nature of the robotic system and the manipulation of non-rigid or deformable objects will be explicitly taken into account. We are looking for highly-motivated young scientists with a background and PhD in robotics and a well-established publication record in one or more of these respective areas: A1) - Non-prehensile robotic manipulation - Modelling of mechanical systems - Impedance and force control - Nonlinear control A2) - Modelling of deformable objects - Point clouds and RGB-D cameras - Real-time object reconstruction - Parallel computation and CUDA programming Strong competencies in C/C++ programming and MATLAB are essential. Qualified potential applicants holding a PhD degree should provide the following material: 1) Cover letter briefly describing their background and career plans 2) CV 3) Link to their research web-site 4) A list of the top 5 publications in Robotic Dynamic Manipulation or related areas 5) Date of availability 6) Names and contact information of at least two references All documents should be submitted via email as a single compressed/pdf file to Prof. Bruno Siciliano with the subject: POSTDOC CANDIDATE (RoDyMan A1 or A2). rodyman.eu/
