Post Intensive Survey, KCR to issue new ID cards in T Hyderabad, October 08: The Telangana government will be issuing identity cards to residents here based on the recent Intensive Household Survey. This was announced by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at a meeting with district collectors and senior government officials at the Secretariat here on Tuesday. T Chief Minister KCR has advised students who intend to avail themselves of the benefit of Financial Assistance to Students of Telangana (FAST) scheme to apply for it with tahsildars before October 15. “The government has huge data of families thanks to the Intensive Household Survey. This data should be used for the public good,” Mr Rao said. “The government will not tolerate any irregularities.” As the government has already released Rs 4,250 crore towards the first instalment of farm loan waiver, KCR instructed officials to complete formalities of the scheme within 15 days and ensure disbursement of fresh loans to farmers. Mr Rao also decided to issue ‘Telangana State Family Food Security Card’ to BPL families and dumping the age old ration cards. These cards can be used only to draw rations from fair price shops. The government will issue new income, caste and nativity certificates to students. Referring to the three-acre land scheme for Dalits, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao asked collectors to scout for land and purchase them for distribution. “NRIs, businessmen and others living in Hyderabad and other cities have lands in villages and some of them are not tilled. The government will buy such land and pay fairly good compensation. The collectors should identify such lands and offer a good price,” he added. He also directed them to issue family food security cards under Food Security Act. The chief minister said that these cards would be issued before October 15 to those who are not government employees and those who do not possess land in excess of five acres and those who are not businessmen. Those who want to get these cards should apply to the VROs in villages. The officials should go through the applications carefully and decide on the beneficiaries’ list which should be over before the end of this month. For the benefit of the handicapped, area hospitals will conduct special medical check-ups and certify them.
