Post-War small apartment complexes dominated the residential aspects of the block The Case Boarding House continued to offer furnished rooms for rent, and apartments and half-units dominated the residential aspects of the block. One of the longest running businesses in the area, the Case Boarding House, operated in the area for over thirty-five years. By 1960 the shift from residential to commercial became even more solidified with over seven insurance companies occupying the block. Also, by the 1960s housing in the area was dominated by small apartment buildings. By the late 1960s, little residential space remained and vacant lots dominated. By 1971 the tenor of the area had completely shifted from its residential beginnings, as the Boise Cascade building went up and encompassed the block. By tracing the changes in this neighborhood we can trace the development of Boises urban core, and in understanding these changes we can better prepare for our future.
