Post-pancake update (they were good and Debi got some great sunrise shots): 80,944 acres, 10% containment, spot fire on the North end of the fire grew to 500 acres. Cal Fire IMT 5 to take Zone 2 at 0600 today, CIIMT - 5 relocating to Foresthill and taking Zone 1 The spot weather forecast for over Zone 1 of the fire for Saturday and Sunday is for lighter winds from the East to variable. This may interfere with smoke dispersion which can affect air operations and our ability to breath! The big weather wildcard is thundershowers activity within this period. The wind will become an issue Tuesday P.M. as a possible storm front ramps up strong Southerly winds. Wednesday COULD see 40+ MPH gusts. Hopefully we will be in way better shape on Branch 3 (our part f the fire) and this wont affect us seriously. Div Alpha (Swansboro) is socked in with smoke this AM so no air support but because the winds seem to be favorable, it appears that they are going to do a firing operation as they requested some cases of fusees and 50 gallons of drip torch fuel! Farther up toward Stumpy Div Golf is still working on their minor flair up but it sounds like it they have it handled and are not concerned. The winds are light out of the southwest there which is good but the humidity (RH) is dropping so things are a bit more active. The heavy traffic is on Div Papa (P) up in the new North Zone or Zone 1 around Hell Hole and French Meadows. the VLATS and Heavies are flying that part of the fire and most of the resources you saw headed up the hill this AM were headed there. There also is some concern that something is happening under the smoke in the Silver Fork drainage below Union Valley so they are bringing in a specially equipped USFS Cobra (yep, old Nam gunship!) that has IR capabilities to look and see whats up. They used it on our side either Weds or Thurs for the same reason.
