Post poll debacle Rather gets an earful from workers, video goes viral on FB Mubashir Bukhari Srinagar: Senior National Conference leader and Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather continues to get an earful from party workers of his area. The workers have been continuously blaming Rather for neglecting the ground workers. A video that surfaced on social networking site Facebook shows Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather listening quiatly to the complaints of party workers. It is worth to mention that the ministers own constituency voted against the National Conference candidate in the recently held Lok Sabha elections. The workers blame Rather for ignoring the party workers and showing them cold feet. “Though in my village people voted against you Rather Sahab, but now I suggest u to hold on to the 400 votes that you got by working for the welfare of the people,” one of the NC workers is seen suggesting to Rather in a video clip. “Whenever any worker comes to you for help, you are ignoring them. If you should have helped them in any way they would have voted for you,” the representative of NC workers is seen complaining to the Minister. Coming down heavily on Minister, the party workers said that they are giving their blood for the party but in return they get nothing. “Day and night, door to door we campaign for the party. But in return we get abuses and disgrace. We are the ground heroes and we are being sidelined,” they said. Asking Rather to open the lid of treasuries and follow the path of former Chief Minister late Ghulam Muhammad Shah, the party worker said, “We want you to be strong and work for the people who voted you to power. If you start ignoring us, who will listen to our grievances.” “You still have four months left for the elections and make use of funds as much as you can,” the party worker said. He asked Minister that if he will not rectify the previous mistakes then he would face similar embarrassment in future. Rather was seeking suggestion from the party workers in backdrop of NC’s debacle in the recently parliamentary elections. The Assembly constituency segment of Charief Sharief represented by Abdul Rahim Rather comes in the Srinagar Parliamentary constituency where Party President lost elections to its rival PDP with a margin of 42,913 votes. The PDP had polled 26870 votes in Charief Sharief constituency while NC which represents the seat in the assembly got only 23785 votes. The National Conference was disseminated to the People’s Democratic Party after the former lost all the three parliamentary seats of the Valley. NC have been blaming Rather for the debacle pointing out that none of his policies worked on the ground.
