Posted: Wednesday, October 29, 2014 12:03 am In the Galveston Daily News FAIRCLOTH STOOD OUT AT CANDIDATE FORUM By DIANE BRODIE I noticed the most glaring difference was the lack of Susan Criss’ knowledge of the issues. And there’s more than just Texas Windstorm Insurance Association. She acknowledged that “in the legislature, if you wait until Day One, you are behind the ball.” On every issue, Wayne Faircloth had done his research, met with business, industry, legislators and constituents, had a plan or opinion and gave detailed answers. Susan Criss either didn’t know the issue or gave short uninformed answers ... “lots of people are looking at that,” “I’ll look into it,” “something we should look at” or “I agree.” As far as working with both sides, which Ms. Criss said she can do, I worry that going in on Day One without knowledge, where will she get her advice? It certainly isn’t from her Republican colleagues, who are currently serving her district, or the others representing the Gulf Coast. She hasn’t reached out to them and, if she isn’t discussing issues with them, where will she get advice on Galveston-Chambers issues? Why won’t she talk to her Republican colleagues? Her supposed familiarity with the system seems to be her father’s time serving while Faircloth’s is from current endeavors on our behalf. Diane Brodie Galveston
