Posted by Ashon Crawley ive been rather bothered by folks who are pleased/happy/celebratory of the impending death of Fred Phelps. and this because we all die and the fact of dying does not make the pernicious spread of hate any less felt. ive been bothered because to desire the death of someone as a cause for celebration seems to run counter to what lots and lots of progressive christians say they desire, yet hearing about his impending death has been cause for gratitude from many of those same folks. i said to a friend of mine a few days ago, our privilege is the burden of abundant grace. we must live into the radical practice.
