Posted by Mr.Akshay Gupta BATTLE OF CHAMKAUR SAHIB (1704) In the year 1704,battle of chamkaur took place between khalsa (under GURU GOBIND SINGH JI) and Mughals and Pahari Rajas (under Aurangzeb and Nawab of Sirhind,punjab wazir khan) Under a peace treaty Guru Gobind Singh left the fort of Anandpur sahib in December 1704..When Sikhs reached near Sarsa river Mughals broke the oaths of Quran and attacked Guru ji near river sarsa.. Sikhs fought bravely near sarsa river and aftermath Sikhs reach Chamkaur garhi (a small fort in village chamkaur)..At that time Guru Gobind Singh had only 40 Sikhs and his two elder sons (Sahibzada Ajit singh and sahibzade Jujhar singh)... Thereafter, 10 lakh Mughal forces surrounded the fort ..A fiercing battle took place at chamkaur ...Sikhs organised themselves in a group of 5 and started going outside fighting with Mughals ...,In this battle both the elder sons of Guru Gobind Singh died fighting in the battle-field..... Result After the battle Guru gobind singh and 3 Sikhs (Bhai Daya singh,Bhai Dharam singh and Bhai Maan singh were still alive) Guru Gobind Singh ji sent his winning zafarnama (Epistle of victory) to Mughal emperor Aurangzeb... Guru Gobind Singh wrote how the Mughals broke the oaths of the holy Quran and how they betrayed Khalsa forces ... According to some writers Aurangzeb in return asked Guru Gobind Singh to meet at Ahmadnagar and also asked what type of Khalsa force you had organized.only 40 Sikhs fought with 10 lakh Mughal forces. In return Guru Gobind Singh wrote Chhidiye de naal baaj ladawa gidhara toh main sher banawa sawa lakh se ek ladawa tabe Gobind Singh naam kahawa. If I make sparrow fight with hawks convert Jackals into Lions and Make 1 Sikh to fight with 1.25 lakh enemies only then I call myself GOBIND SINGH......
