Posted on Monday, March 17, 2014 “Hubris = Justin” If I had a dollar for every time I’ve used the word “hubris” in a conversation, I’d have a dollar. Hubris is just one of those words people use when they feel scholarly or when newspaper columnists want to “soften” their description of an arrogant person. According to the dictionary, hubris is a noun meaning excessive pride or self-confidence; arrogance. The columnists might have it right: “That hubris bastard Justin Bieber” sounds better than “That arrogant bastard” Justin Bieber.
